Project Description
In this short project I worked with another designer, a business and an engineering student to look at the challenges facing the American Public Library.

With the rise of the electronic delivery of textual information, the popularity of bookstores such as Barnes and Noble, and reduced public funding, American Public Libraries are facing a challenging future.

Design Solution
After researching the social, technical and economic factors that are pressuring libraries today, we suggest recasting libraries as a destination environment that offers a desirable place to both relax and work. With the skilled workers in libraries providing highly specialized information services to business people and others with research needs.

To do this we believe that libraries should affiliate as a group across the nation, instead as acting as independent entities as they currently do. By joining together there is the potential to develop a unified brand, with consistent, predictable services and customer experiences across the country.
